Description

The ?Connect 4 Math? course will emphasize mathematics? teaching strategies and techniques tied to the state math GLEs. This will be followed by four quarterly workshops during the school year and online instruction to enhance learning in data analysis, inquiry based learning, benchmark testing, content knowledge and effective teaching practices. A team of four Math Coaches will be trained with a four day summer class followed by monthly workdays and online instruction. The coaches will not only improve their mathematical knowledge but will also learn coaching methods to work with fellow teachers. The coaches will work daily with members of the cohort to model lessons, develop materials and lesson plans, and to improve pedagogical practices. Coaches will meet regularly with the higher education faculty for on-going training. Cohort members will teach with coaches present and the two will work on reflective practices.
