Vehicle Tire Sales Forecasting:

It is important for a tire shop to keep an up to date inventory of their tires. It is important to have real time information because as long when an employee is checking the stock on particular customer’s tires it is important to be able to see if they are in the warehouse or need to be ordered. This will help business should run smooth. It is important that a tire shop update and back-up their inventory data at least once a day to assure everything is current for the next business day.

It would be necessary for each tire to have a code that could be put on it and scanned as it was received in the warehouse, when it left the warehouse, and when it left the tire shop. This would help inventory tracking to know what was where and when more inventory of that item was needed.

It would be very important for forecasting tire sales to have analytical information. Queries would need to be ran for several different things such as how many tires are sold in the Fall, right before winter; how many people purchase studded tires and what sizes are sold most; what is the most common brand and size of tire sold; how many of each size/brand are sold in average- day, month, quarterly. This data information would be extremely crucial to sales because it is important for a tire shop to have their inventory stocked. By running queries the tire shop will be able to see trends and prepare for future sales. It would also help managers know how much inventory to keep in stock of each item.

By keeping track of inventory daily, running queries, and keeping all data backed up it will be much easier for a tire shop to keep track of what they will be needing in stock, when, and how much. cinemana

Nichole,

I think you have made a very accurate assessment on the frequency and coordination of updating data on tire sales for forecasting.  I think you made some very good points in suggesting that tires should be tracked when they enter the warehouse, when they leave, when they are at the tire shop, and when they are sold.  I think your idea of having a scanner to read a code on the tires could make this process very efficient.

I also think you brought up some very good information on the importance of knowing when tires are selling and being able to use that data to forecast sales for each season and the quantity of sales.  One thing I thought of that would be interesting to see from this data would be is if there is constantly shifts in the sales of different sizes of tires as new car models with different sized wheels hit the market each year.

Nichole,

I think you did a great job in analyzing vehicle tire inventory.  It is so important for tire shops to know what they have on inventory and when they can get something.  Tires are very important to a car. When a tire goes flat, blows out, or needs to be changed alot of people want it done that same day or the next day. Most people can't live without there cars.  This makes it very important for the tire shops to know exactly how many they have, when they need to re-order.  Also, having reporting of different tires that are picking up sales or a certain size that is selling could be helpful for the shop.  I think like you said tire inventory definitely needs to be in real time for a tire shop. Good job!
