From a security standpoint WiMAX provides a much safer type of wireless service. With WiMAX each individual purchases their own 'identity' so there is no connecting to unsecure hosts and having the chance of personal confidential information being stolen that way any longer. With WiMAX, the encryption abilities are consistently on versus those of other wireless services where the user must turn that on in order for it to be secure.

 

WiMAX and GPS together have made transportation from one location to another almost effortless. Together the two allow for navigation in the simplest manner whether it is shipping products via the quickest route to tracking vehicles locations. WiMAX and GPS allow organizations to know every move their company vehicles make and know where their products are at all times when en route to a destination. It has allowed organizations to provide for much easier traveling for their employees as well by routing the destination from every turn to the differentiating speed limits.

 

WiMAX and GIS have allowed advancement in the GPS technology. With WiMAX and GIS organizations are now able to get up-to-second information on the location of products, vehicles, and even employees. From this information, GIS can ensure that the route is correct and if it gets off track GIS and re-route from the exact location to assure the destination is reached. This can be very advantageous especially for emergency vehicles when trying to reach a destination and even locating where their call is coming from to assure they can reach the scene.

 

WiMAX and RFID can be very beneficial to organizations as well. With RFID organizations are able to take inventory of all products as they are constantly moving locations as well as equipment and physical assets of the organization. WiMAX and RFID has allowed all different types of organizations to reduce costs and overhead by creating visibility into inefficient business processes by improving productivity of their workforce while simplifying the implementation and ongoing management costs of their networks.

Nicole, I think you made some very good points about the security features provided by WiMAX.  I agree that it is very advantageous that users are able to have their own identity where information is automatically encrypted.  I think this a very valuable feature because while these new wireless technologies can provide many features they can also pose security threats to users if not designed correctly.

Great points Nichole! I think WiMAX and GIS technology have really helped businesses to keep track of products, vehicles, and employees. This in turn could help the companies generate more revenue whenthey are always update where product and employees are.
