The 27th dumbest “moment in business” is when Radio Shack decided to fire 400 workers through e-mail. This could have been avoided by the company sending the store manager or the district manager to let the people go. Also, explaining why they were laying 400 people off would have gone a long way instead of just firing them through e-mail.  It is hard for a company when they have to lay off people but doing it this way can cause an un-trusty organization and bad PR for the company.  When people see that this is how they treat their employees people will find different options for going to purchase electronics.  This also sends a sense of insecurity across the organization because associates don’t know if they will be fired tomorrow and will look for different options.  This was a horrible business decision by Radio Shack!

Marco, I read some of the blogs on this article ant it was very interesting.  One of the blogs was from a former employee, who was still in contact with many employees at Radio Shacks corporate office.  He was talking about how some employees knew about the layoffs days before they were sending out the email, and were bragging and laughing about it.  They were talking about how they could see the reactions on certain employees faces when they read the emails.  This is horrible and unacceptable the way Radio Shack handled this situation.  The layoffs should have been confidential, and the HR dept should have dealt with them individually and confidentially.  Radio Shack Management showed no respect to these employees for their service.

I agree! People see the way that companies treat their employees and decide if they will do business with that certain company.  With the competitive nature of the 21st century every client is much needed for a business to survive.
