After researching sites like wifinder.com and jiwire.com, I found that Denver has the most hotspots, next Salt Lake City, and thirdly Santé Fe.   Wifinder.com came up with over 350 for Denver, over 100 for Salt Lake City, and just over 10 for Santé Fe.   Jiwire.com came up with over 300 for Denver, over 180 in Salt Lake City, and around 78 for Santé Fe.   Not having internet all the time could be very un-productive and cause the company to lose revenue.

I am suggesting that the company either provide the sales representatives with smart phones or wireless internet cards. These two alternatives could be great solutions when hot spots are unavailable.   Most smart phones these days you can tether other laptops off the same wireless connection.   This could help the sales representatives to be connected and productive at the same time.   The second option would be to provide wireless cards to each sales representative to use when they are using their laptop.   This would allow the sales representative to have internet all the time.

Costs for having a smart phone would be around $100 per line. That would include minutes, data, and text messaging capabilities.   Wireless cards from AT&T and Sprint would cost about $50 for the card and then $19.99 to keep the service monthly.

I think the option of a smartphone or a wireless card would definitely help these sales representatives stay connected with clients and always have internet connection. The safety of working off a laptop with a VPN or software that will help to keep the clients information safe opposed to always connecting to hotspot internet could also be worth it. Hackers could be sitting in a restaurant or right outside, grabbing all the client information they want.  Maintaining a safe working environment for both the sales representative and their client will help from any future PR troubles.

Marco after I submitted my post I thought "hey I could've mentioned a wireless card." While thinking about it, knowing that it can be expensive, it would maybe not be the best decision for ever representative but those that are higher up in the organization or are needing the internet for more than just communication through email those would be a very great option for SalesTrek. And I agree, it would also be a much safer route with regards to security.
