Description

Developmental biology is second perhaps only to evolution as a unifying theme within the diverse discipline that is biological thought. This course will attempt to encapsulate the patterns and processes of ontogeny while exposing the student to many aspects of modern biotechnology. Subjects with ethical implications (e.g. embryonic stem cell research) will also be discussed. The laboratory section will explore many conceptual and methodological issues of development using model organisms (e.g. Caenorhabdities, Xenopus).
